What We Ask of the JSIS Families:

1. Membership:

Becoming a member of JSIS PTSA is a great way to lead by example and show our students that their education is our priority. The membership fee supports programs and services offered by JSIS PTSA as well as work done on the local, state and national level for public schools. We are requiring PTSA membership for students to participate in our before/after school programs.

This year’s membership fees are:

$30 ($19.50 for the JSIS PTSA plus $9.50 for membership in the Washington State PTSA plus a $1.00 processing fee)

For additional questions please refer to the Membership FAQs.  If you do not receive a membership envelope, please contact the PTA Membership Chair.

2. Volunteer:

Think about what kind of volunteer you would like to be and contact the [email protected] opens an email client applicationopens an email client applicationopens an email client applicationor visit our Volunteering at JSIS page to see how we can best utilize your talents. There’s a broad variety of volunteer needs – ranging from event chairs to day-of help. We hope you will spend at least 5 hours of your time this school year volunteering for PTSA events. We need each parent’s time to ensure the success of our school!

3. Ideas:

Provide input on how the PTSA can better support the school community.

How We Use PTA Funds:

The JSIS PTSA devotes over 60% of budget to programs that have a direct benefit to every students educational experience in the classroom. Please review the overall PTSA Budget, PTSA’s fundraising income chart. and the PTSA program expense chart. to learn more about the financial aspects and programs supported by JSIS PTSA.

Please see our PTA Membership FAQs.

What We Do:

1. We raise funds to support the JSIS staff and students. In the past, PTSA funds have contributed to the Playground Renovation Project, provided Visual Arts lessons to every classroom, and helped teachers buy classroom supplies.

2. We organize activities and events to build our community. From “first day doughnuts” to the end-of-the-year ice cream social, we find ways to bring us together as a cohesive school community.

3. We ensure that communication lines are open. We manage the weekly email communications, run the JSIS website, and organize four annual PTA general meetings to keep parents in the loop about school & education issues.

4. We help advocate for issues affecting our staff, students, and families. It takes a school community working towards common goals to ensure the success of the mission of JSIS.
