How to Donate or Return the Pledge Funds?

There are a number of options to choose from to send in your pledge funds.

Note: You can donate before the event, at the event , or after the event up to October 18^th, 2019.

RallyUp

This year we will use Rally Up to collect our Move-a-Thon contributions.  To register your children to use the online service and be able to send a personal link to family and friends please go to: https://tinyurl.com/jsisreg

Alternatively, click directly to our Pledge page by clicking the green Make a Pledge link below and sponsor a child directly, by entering their first and last name into our online pledge form.  It's best to register your children first so other potential sponsors can search for their name.  If you have any questions regarding the system please email movathoncommitee@jsispta.org.

Prefer to Pay by Cash or Check?

Send in your cash or check, along with the pledge sheet, through any of these methods:

• Drop it in the "Move-a-Thon" bin on the day of the event or in the mail room (after the event).
• Send it with your child's homework (make sure it is in an envelope labeled "Move-a-Thon" and that the check has your child's name).

Prefer PayPal?

You also have the option of paying via PayPal. Simply click on the button below, enter the donation amount and the name & grade of the student to ensure that the funds are credited to the correct student / class (for prizes). 

Example: John Smith 1^st grade

Example for Multiple Students: John Smith 1^st grade and Maria Smith 5^th grade

1. Click the blue button on the right to donate.  Note: that PayPal deducts a 2.5% service charge
2. Enter donation amount
3. Click on Donate with PayPal or Donate with a Debit or Credit Card
4. Enter the name of the student(s) and their grade.
5. Select Payment Method, Review and complete the donation

Help your children find supporters to pledge!

• Email friends and family, tell them about our event and ask for their support!
• Ask local and non-local grandparents and family members - through the use of PayPal they can support your child long-distance!
• Visit neighbors who know and love your children.
• Ask your employer if they will be willing to match donations collected by your child or your child's class

Gift Matching

Make sure to ask your child's sponsors if their employer will match your gift. If they will please identify this on the pledge form.

Frequently asked questions about the Move-a-Thon

What is the Move-a-Thon?

A fundraiser hosted by the PTSA. Its goal is to encourage fitness, team work, and school spirit. The students walk, run, skip, bike, skate, ride scooters, and MOVE around the track while parent volunteers cheer them along.  Students receive pledges from families and friends towards their personal goal. This year the event will take place on Sunday, September 29^th, 2019 from 10am-1pm at Gas Works Park.

The event starts at 10am and ends at 1pm. Do I have to stay for the entire duration?

No. What time to start, how long to stay, and how far to travel is up to you and your kid(s)!

How does the event work?

Students set a fitness goal, example: I will run 5 laps.

Using the pledge form or event online link students reach out to get pledges from friends, family and neighbors based on a flat dollar amount or laps your kid(s) anticipates traveling. Flat dollar amount is suggested to prevent having to go back to sponsor.

On the day of the event, students bring their bikes, scooters, roller skates, or just their feet down to Gas Works Park and Move! This year we will also have a hula-hoop competition (note: the bike track has pebbles on one side, may be troublesome for scooters.)  Safety Note: Prior to the event please check children's bikes to make sure they are operating well and their helmets to make sure they fit correctly. Ms. Rebecca will have a helmet check station on the day of the event.

Participants will track their distance using a trail card that will be provided on the day of the event.

What if I can't make it to the event?

We'd love to see you at the event but we know that this may not be possible for all families! You can still participate by collecting funds and providing the donation to the PTSA or by having family and friends sponsor your own "Move-a-Thon". There is a student is riding his bike around his neighborhoods park a few times as his commitment to fitness and the school.

How are all the funds collected used?

These funds are used throughout the school year to fund: Community Events (Move-a-Thon, Japan Night, La Fiesta, Ice Cream Social, First Day Donuts, etc.), Scholarships, Teacher Stipends and Professional Development, Staff Appreciation Week, Donations to our School Library, Science Fair, 5th grade Camp and Graduation, Dance Residency Program, and much more!

Will there be prizes for the students?

Yes, this year we have many new prizes!  Refer to the Move-a-Thon "Event Information" tab for the list.

What is our fundraising goal for 2018?

Our financial goal is $25,000 and 90% school participation.  The target student donation is $100. The JSIS PTSA is a non-profit organization, so your company may match your donation. Please identify on the pledge sheet if a company match will be received.

What is the preferred method of payment?

Check or Cash, since then 100% of your contribution goes to the PTSA. However this year we also offer Rallyup. (these services take ~ 3% per transaction). Please forward the links to PayPal and Rallyup to your out of state family and friends for their support.vvYou may return your donation in your child's class folder but please make sure to mention it to the teacher since we would not like for it to get misplaced. You may also place it in the PTSA mailbox.

Note: If providing a check please make the check to JSIS PTSA and in the comments section write "Move-a-Thon" and include student name/grade.
